I WILL RISE

I will not stay while hope within me dies

I will not crumble under fear with all its lies

I will not breathe disappointed sighs

I will not watch as opportunity passes by

I will not, on the contrary, I will rise

Up up up from here away from fear

Up up from here my path is clear

Up up from here my life to steer

Up up to wisdom I give ear

Up up to see what I’m to be

Up up to walk in destiny

Up up to try a different key

Up up from my complacency

No longer will I compromise

No longer will I speak demise

No longer will I live unwise

No, on the contrary, I will rise

Up up oh child of deity

Up up creation calls to thee

Up up proclaim your victory

Up up to live life full and free

Brush off the dust and wipe my eyes

Away useless self-pity cries

To stay, purpose unrealized

I can not stay, No, I will rise

She is Unaware

Bitter

She enters the room

Sucking all its goodness out

Swallowing it in her misery

The occupants regret that she has come

Yet she is unaware

Complaints crowded inside her mouth

Escape beyond her tongue and teeth

Before there’s time to capture them

Loaded words like bullets leave a massacre

Yet, she is unaware

She cannot see she does not know

What others see and feel

Dragging the chains of a hurtful past

Her wounds lay open still

Yet she is unaware

Broken

She wants to be loved

Attaching herself to all that’s lethal

Longing so for man’s acceptance

While compromising her Godly design

Yet she is unaware

Alone with her thoughts

 haunting dreams of self-disapproval

Strengthening her lowly state

Imprisoned by her own accusations

Yet she is unaware

She cannot see she does not know

What others see and feel

Dragging the chains of a hurtful past

Her wounds lay open still

Yet she is unaware

Bruised

She must be seen

Speaking much she must be heard

Imitating strength with the volume her voice

Her audience is held hostage

Yet she is unaware

She made a vow

Crying and weakness are disallowed

Seizing all she can NOW

Attaching her identity to success

Yet she is unaware

She cannot see she does not know

What others see and feel

Dragging the chains of a hurtful past

Her wounds lay open still

Yet she is unaware

DISCIPLINE

How I hate you

Oh enemy of mine

You haunt and taunt

You hiss and I miss

The mark

Only you stand

Between me and destiny

Flaunting your treasures in my face

I reach to grab your neck

But you are too quick

Or I am too slow

It pains me that my attempts

To put you in your place

Have failed

But I serve notice on you this day

That I shall not stop

Until I have obtained and

My foe becomes my friend

CHANGE YOUR MIND

Change your mind the preacher says

And I agree

Too much talk about the way things should be

If it’s not that way, let thoughts go free

Change your mind the preacher says

And I agree

World full of “I can’t” and negative talk

Generational curses must take a walk

Yet if you doubt, it never will be

Change your mind the preacher says

And I agree

You accepted a sentence that was not your own

Just a child then, but now full grown

Take charge of your life while heading the plea

Change your mind the preacher says

And I agree

Growth through knowledge, now you must befriend

Enlightenment as your guide, you prophesy your end

Yes you are the pilot and this is the key

Change your mind the preacher says

And I agree

WHEN YOU SING

I love it when you sing

More than words

More than voices

More than rhythm

More than choices

When you sing

Everything changes

Beyond the natural

Exceeding ranges

I love it when you sing

You let us tag along

Thrilling our hearts

With the joy in your song

Creator of pitch and harmony

You sing and I am free

Maker of amazing melody

Sing your song to me

I love it when you sing

Abortion

If it is nothing

                Then let it be

                                And it shall remain

                                                                No thing!

Yet, if it be nothing

                And then become something

                                It was something all along.
